A prayer for that hidden sound
An old friend wrote and sent this to me.
O God,
My soul strains to hear You—
not with ears but with my being.
I wish my insides would ring
with the sound of You.
I wish You would fill me,
and still me,
and speak me into peace.
But I am noisy inside.
Teach me to trust not in certainty,
but in the ache that seeks You.
Let this longing be
not a sign of absence—
but of Your approach.
Hide me in Your silence
until I can hear again.
Amen.
